MY ROLE IN A HEALTHY CONGREGATION
Two weeks ago (my apologies for no “update” last week), I posed this question asked of those who attended our Leadership Retreat: “If I want a congregation to become healthier, I would start by…”
I asked for your thoughts…the response was, well, underwhelming
No doubt you thought about it, you’d just rather not share.
Here are some of the responses from fellow members at the Leadership Retreat. “If I want a congregation to become healthier, I would start by…”
· Making more of a time commitment to worship and Bible study
· Personally encourage others to participate in Bible studies
· Communicate to the congregation why we are here (Vision statement)
· Look to communicate and define our Christian mission and purpose
There’s a definite theme. It ran through our entire retreat. It should be the lifeblood of our entire ministry. Connection to the Word of God – the deeper, the better.
How are you connected? There are many ways – worship (weekend and mid-week), Bible study, personal study and meditation on the Word, remembering your Baptism, receiving the Lord’s Supper.
“The holy Scriptures…are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

UPCOMING AND INCOMING
1) Lent worship continues. “By His Wounds We Are Healed.” Today – “His Holy Hands” Wednesday worship at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Supper precedes evening worship at 6 p.m.
2) The Annual 2010 “Who’s Who at Deer Valley” Kids booklet will be distributed this weekend. One per family, please
3) Sunday Bible Study – “Joseph: From Pit to Palace” a detailed study of Genesis 37-50

WORSHIP PREVIEW
February Family Focus Month concludes with Youth Sunday. It’s for kids. It’s for parents. It’s for all the “children of God.” How blessed we are to be called “children of God!” (1 John 3:1-10 is our sermon Scripture)
